As you progress through the Baldur's Gate 3 storyline, you will find yourself exploring new areas of the game. Along the way to your adventure, you will meet new characters and devise ways to defeat new enemies.

Investigate The Beach is a side quest the players will get quite early in the game. To complete this quest, you must protect a certain Tiefling child named Mirkon from the Harpies. However, it's more challenging than it sounds. Apart from the flying Harpies attacking from above, you will also have to deal with the hypnotizing melody of the singing Harpy.
How To Start Investigate The Beach
The 'Investigate the Beach' side quest is not given by any NPC, so you won't have to travel anywhere to find it. As you explore the Emerald Grove forest, you will eventually stumble upon a singing Harpy near the beach. Once you enter the area, the side quest will automatically begin and be updated in your journal. If you haven't explored the site yet, you will unlock this part of the map with this side quest. You can find Emerald Grove just northeast of Druid Grove. The beach is towards the eastern edge of the map in the Secluded Cove area.

How To Save Mirkon
Once the quest has been added to your journal, head down the cliff to the beach, and you will find Mirkon standing by the water near the coordinates X: 332, Y: 547. Before you talk with Mirkon, ensure you are prepared for battle because you and your crew will have to fight four harpies as soon as the conversation ends.
If you are prepared, go ahead and talk with Mirkon. You will see that the Tiefling child is being hypnotized and pulled by the singing Harpy. During your conversation with Mirkon, you may get lurked by the melodies, too, unless you pick the proper dialogues. Here are the recommended choices:
- "You shouldn't be standing out in the water. It's dangerous."
- "I don't hear anything. Come back to the shore."
As soon as the dialogue ends, your battle with the harpies starts. This is a must-win battle because if you lose, Mirkon will get too close to the Harpies and eventually get killed and end the quest for you.
One Harpy will keep singing to lure Mirkon towards it. Try to focus your attacks on the singing harpy first. This will disorient it and might stop it from singing the melody, making your job of saving Mirkon much easier. The singing Harpies can lure you or any of your party members with their song. If any of your party members has been lured, he will skip his attack and start moving towards the Harpy attracting him. So, start your battle with the one singing the melody.
At the beginning of the fight, we recommend moving your long-range attackers above the hill. This will give you an advantage by removing the height difference with the Harpies since they will attack you mostly from above while flying.
After defeating all four harpies, Mirkon will be freed from the singing Harpies spell. Talk to him, and he will tell you about another Tiefling child, Mol. You will then have to find Mol. Mol can be found in the Tiefling's secret hideout.
But before you meet Mol, you must convince Doni to let you enter the hideout. Doni's location will be marked on the map, making him an easy find for you. You can convince Doni with the clue Mirkon gave you. Just choose "Doni, isn't it? I want to see the Dragon's Lair." After you have convinced Doni, you can enter the hideout through the Concealed Hatch. Inside the hideout, you will find Mol. Go ahead and talk with Mol. After your conversation ends, which is also the end of the quest, she will tell you about a new side quest you can attempt called "Steal the Sacred Idol." Before you leave Dragon's Lair, talk with Mirkon to receive a gift. He will give you a story he wrote about your bravery. What a wholesome ending to a quest!
