Dornoch took the victory in the 156th Belmont Stakes at Saratoga Springs on Saturday evening, withstanding a late effort from both Mindframe and Sierra Leone to pull the upset at 17-1 odds. The result means each Triple Crown

While, in 1931, Scotland's courts declared golf had been played on the links “since time immemorial,” the club itself was founded in 1877, initially as a nine-hole course until Old Tom Morris was invited to extend the layout in 1886.

In the 154 runnings of the Belmont Stakes, there have been only 24 fillies that have competed in the event. Three of these have won the race: Ruthless (1867), Tanya (1905), and Rags to Riches (2007). There has also been two who finished second and six who finished third.
