In 1994, 22-year-old Christian von Koenigsegg formed the Koenigsegg Project, setting his sights on creating a world-class sports car. The talented young engineer and his team quickly created an incredible prototype, the CC. Many of its design elements eventually made their way into the production models.
After years of meticulous development, the Koenigsegg CC8S was unveiled as the Swedish automaker’s first production model. The company heavily reworked a Ford Modular 4.6L V-8 engine and placed it inside a supercar platform weighing only 2,590 lbs. (1,175 kg).
The CC8S is packed with innovative technology, including patented powered vertically-opening doors and a central free-flowing exhaust system. It also used a removable hardtop for an extra touch of elegance.
The Koenigsegg CC8S was an immediate hit. Although there was vast interest, only 6 units were created due to production costs and restraints.
But in 2004, the newer Koenigsegg CCR was unleashed, using larger wheels and tires, upgraded chassis and suspension, and an additional supercharger for increased power. The CCR broke the record for the fastest production car at 241.01 mph (387.87 km/h) and forever marked the brand into automotive history.
Since then, the Swedish luxury car maker has continued its upward trajectory, never letting success lead to complacency, and finding new ways to bring the x-factor.

Koenigsegg has impressed again by releasing a four-seater megacar unlike anything else produced. The Gemera uses advanced hybrid technology to minimize the powertrain size and add two seats where the usual mid-engine powerplant would go.

The Koenigsegg model names began with CC, short for competition coupe. The first production model, the CC8S, is a competition coupe powered by a V-8 with a supercharger.

The Koenigsegg Jesko was available with naked carbon fiber, but it was an extremely-expensive option, adding approximately $440,000 to the total purchase price. You can have the carbon-fiber body clear coated for a slightly lower cost of $300,000. Or you can skip these and choose from the standard color selection at no additional cost.

With great risk comes great reward. This might as well be the motto for Koenigsegg, who somehow pulls off the impossible and creates vehicles so impressive, it moves the entire industry forward.
The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut, a low-drag variant of the Jesko, held the title of the fastest car in the world, reaching speeds up to 330 mph (531 km/h). Koenigsegg Regera
It’s hard to deny the Tesla Model S as one of the most innovative and popular electric vehicles on the market. And when Koenigsegg founder Christian von Koenigsegg drove one, he was so impressed by the instant electric torque, it led to the first partially-electric Koenigsegg car.
The Koenigsegg Regera, which means to reign, features three electric motors paired with a 5.0L V-8, creating a combined 1,500 horsepower. This stunning model takes its name literally, ruling over the record for 0–249–0 mph (0–400–0 km/h) at just 31.49 seconds.

Koenigsegg CCX
As a rear-wheel drive model with a 6-speed manual gearbox and dual superchargers, the Koenigsegg CCX is undeniably from a bygone era. Yet it remains a stunning example of hypercar performance and style.
Koenigsegg produced 29 units of the original CCX, then continued forward with no less than six variants. The Koenigsegg CCXR incorporated more eco-friendly technology to use ethanol fuel, while the CCX Edition reduced weight for ultimate track performance.

Koenigsegg CCR
Trying to follow in the footsteps of the first production Koenigsegg car, the CC8S, is quite the challenge. Yet the Swedish carmaker delivered in full by enhancing aerodynamics with a new front diffuser, reengineering the suspension and brakes, and adding a second Rotrex supercharger to get over 800 horsepower out of a V-8 engine.
The Koenigsegg CCR surpassed expectations, taking the title for the world’s fastest production car in 2005 at 241.01 mph (387.87 km/h). Speed records don’t last forever, and the CCR’s achievement was eventually surpassed by the Bugatti Veyron.

Koenigsegg CC8S
After unveiling the Koenigsegg CC prototype in 1996, another six years of research and development went into the first production mode, the Koenigsegg CC8S.
An aluminum subframe supported a modular Ford V-8 engine paired to a manual 6-speed manual transmission, surrounded by a kevlar-reinforced carbon fiber chassis developed in-house along with the suspension, brakes, and impressive vertically-opening doors.
