Maryland: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Matthew Gilbert Boston Globe A great opportunity to admire two of the finest actors from across the pond. May 8, 2024 Full Review Maryland: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) John Anderson Wall Street Journal The series boasts two remarkable performances by actresses far better known in the U.K. than here, though the interplay of the sisters -- and the gap between them -- is familiar enough... This sibling dynamic feels true. May 2, 2024 Full Review Maryland: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Geordie Gray The Australian At its core, this is a beautifully observed family drama, with a meaty mystery to keep it ticking along. Feb 17, 2024 Full Review Maryland: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Melissa Camacho Common Sense Media While this may be an effort to keep the central focus on the sisters, or due to a sheer lack of time given the overall length of the series, you're still left with the desire to learn more about them, and with no way to do so. Jun 4, 2024 Full Review Maryland: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Joel Keller Decider When MaryLand concentrates on Becca and Rosaline re-bonding while seeking answers about their mother, the series works the best... May 7, 2024 Full Review Maryland: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (6) Alison Rowat The Herald (Scotland) Overall it was a beautifully played, highly engaging piece, directed, funnily enough, by Sue Tully. Barbara W Well acted by two of the best actors in the UK! Good rapport between Suranne Jones and Eve Best as estranged sisters uncovering their Mother’s secrets. Stockard Channing was underused but provided comic relief as needed in a heavy subject drama. The last episode neatly tied up most loose ends. Welcome to PBS, Suranne Jones! Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/20/24 Full Review Bob S Oh good grief. What film were the critics watching? This is very little more than a Hallmark movie, with the interesting addition of a death dula. We've had characters with two separate families before. We've had bickering sisters before. We've had marital problems before. And of course everything gets resolved, as before. We've had almost everything before, and done better Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/17/24 Full Review glenn k 3 episodes. Short and incredibly sweet with a wonderful ensemble cast. Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/04/23 Full Review Alan M Typical melodrama about two sisters unhappy with their lives dealing with their mother's death and hidden life. Suranne Jones is once again trapped in a life with a husband she has come to despise blaming him for her despair and boredom and once again it's heads he's to blame or tails he's to blame wether the husband is faithful or unfaithful which is the norm in today's dramas. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 06/04/23 Full Review Lord C Totally unbelievable story, so the whole series was a waste of time. No one could ever hide such a secret.
