Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg uses this smartphone... and it is not an iPhone (2024)

Amid all the debate about what is better between Android phones and iPhones, the question that intrigues everyone's mind is: "What phone do top tech CEOs use?" For Apple CEO Tim Cook, it is undoubtedly an iPhone, and for Google head Sundar Pichai, he always carries a Pixel for testing and other work. However, when it comes to other executives who are not directly involved in the smartphone business, it becomes even more intriguing to see which phone they prefer.

Recently, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg was spotted at a public event, busy with his smartphone, and all eyes were curious about what he had in his hands. A few years ago, Zuckerberg had expressed his liking for the Android OS and mentioned that he used a Samsung smartphone. In his early interviews, Zuckerberg also revealed his interest in Android smartphones and was known to use Samsung devices. In fact, in 2020, Zuckerberg got on a call with YouTuber Marques Brownlee, also known as MKBHD. During the call, he was asked which phone he had in his pocket, and the Facebook CEO replied, "you know, I've been using Samsung phones for a few years, and I am a big fan of them. I think they build great phones."

However, when it comes to his current daily phone, it seems like Zuckerberg still has a liking for Samsung's smartphones. Recently, Zuckerberg posted a picture of himself checking his phone while on the way to Taylor Swift's concert, with the caption "Checking 13 emails on the way to the concert." From the look of the photo, the tech billionaire was seen using a premium Samsung S series smartphone in a block color variant. In another photo that Zuckerberg shared a few weeks back after completing an extreme fitness challenge, he posted a mirror selfie in which he was seen taking his photo using the same Samsung S series phone, which has a triple camera setup at the back.

While it is not clear which series he is using, judging by the color and curved edges of the smartphone, it appears to be either the Samsung Galaxy S21 (or Samsung Galaxy S21+) or the Samsung S22. The smartphone could more specifically belong to the Samsung Galaxy S22 series, as it exhibits similar characteristics like the color and curved edges seen in the S21. While the Samsung Galaxy S21 may seem a bit dated at the time of the photo, the S22 series would be more in line with the current timeline.

Zuckerberg’s favor for Android also aligns with his tiff with Apple’s Tim Cook back in 2018 when Cook criticized Facebook and its CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, in a very public manner regarding its privacy scandals and the Cambridge Analytica affair. Following this statement, Zuckerberg called Cook's criticism "extremely glib" and later even asked his executives to switch to Android, as it had a relatively larger user base than the iPhone.
